ASSISTIVE
LISTENING
A variety of low and high tech aids are
available to assist individuals who have hearing limitations
or deafness. Examples include computers and portable
word processors to write instructions or communicate
with a hearing partner; TDD for phone access; closed
captioning for the television or to summarize real-time
speaking and lectures; sound magnification systems (auditory
trainers) to amplify the voice of a speaker, lecturer,
or communication partner; and personal amplification
systems such as hearing aids.
Below is a collection of articles, handouts/forms, and
useful links related to the area of assistive listening.
